Household Help Blues

Sorry I haven't been able to post anything new. So many activities over the last several days and now I have a domestic issue to settle.

The other day, I caught my helper sneaking out at night to tryst with her boyfriend. Terrible. Apparently, that evening, the man had broken uo with her. The next day, this young girl tried to spray Baygon into her mouth! It's a good thing our driver caught her in time. Such a young girl, not yet even 20 and already ruining her life that way. What is it about the youth and their reckless ways. Apparently, it had been going on for weeks. She would just wait for us to sleep and then slip out into the night and return at 5AM! No wonder she was always sleepy and disoriented these past few weeks! Naturally, I had to return her to her aunt immediately as soon as I found out. The week-end events at my house were like a tele-serye come alive!

She had come to Manila to help out her father because her adoptive mother had died. Later on, I found out that her biological mother was still alive, and working as a DH in Hongkong. This mother had left her father for another man. And when that didn't work out, she left to work overseas, leaving this girl with her father and his new wife. Maybe next time I take in a new girl, I should go and dig into her background as well.

It's a good thing P and L are independent and can take care of themselves and that I own my time. For now, I'm left with one who is also under disciplinary action for not telling on the other girl until it was too late. One bad apple can really spoil the rest of those inside the barrel...And to think, this other girl has been with me for close to nine years now. Hay. The travails of living in Manila! Househelp can be both a blessing and a bane. Nowadays it's so difficult to find dependable and trustworthy helpers. So when you do, you need to really take good care of them.

I hope and pray that I am able to find a replacement soon so I can get my universe humming again in its usual order. There are so many commitments to meet and for now I need to do errands galore. Lord guide my steps. Here's to a better and blessed week to all of us!
